The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VaraKolaudov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Ishii decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in VaraKolaudov's guard.
Ishii stops VaraKolaudov from standing up.

Ishii drops back, looking for a kneebar! VaraKolaudov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. VaraKolaudov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from VaraKolaudov!

Ishii trying his best to control but VaraKolaudov has mounted him.
VaraKolaudov misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
VaraKolaudov throwing strikes but Ishii recovers to half guard. A much better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

VaraKolaudov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ishii has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ishii is trying to maintain the position but VaraKolaudov is very close to passing his half guard.

Ishii is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but VaraKolaudov pulls his head out easily.
VaraKolaudov is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ishii reverses the position - he's now on top in VaraKolaudov's guard.
Ishii slips nicely into half guard.
VaraKolaudov is looking to escape.

Ishii wants to pass to mount but VaraKolaudov is defending the position.
VaraKolaudov looks like he's trying to stand up.

VaraKolaudov has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ishii is on him like a limpet, forcing VaraKolaudov back against the ropes.
Ishii fails to pull guard.
VaraKolaudov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ishii.

VaraKolaudov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

VaraKolaudov drops Ishii with a beautiful combination! Ishii stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - VaraKolaudov is looking for the KO!

It looks like Yoshiaki Ishii has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head kick by VaraKolaudov - that's a beauty! Ishii is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even VaraKolaudov can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
