Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evc Evs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pablo Manjuelez!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Manjuelez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Manjuelez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Manjuelez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Evs.

Manjuelez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Evs's guard.

Manjuelez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Evs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Evc Evs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Evs shoots in and drives through. Manjuelez sprawls well.

Manjuelez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Evs gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Manjuelez will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Evs up against the ropes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Evs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Manjuelez counters with a right hand to the body.
Manjuelez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Manjuelez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Manjuelez is pushing Evs up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Evs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Manjuelez walks away with a smile on his face. Evs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Manjuelez has Evs pressed against the ropes, preventing Evs from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Manjuelez shoots in and bounces Evs off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Evs is fighting off a takedown attempt but Manjuelez is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Evs to the mat. Evs regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Well Manjuelez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
