Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tim Gunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Eriksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Eriksen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tim Gunner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Eriksen!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Eriksen lands but Gunner takes it in his stride.
Gunner scores with a punch to the head.
Eriksen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gunner.

Gunner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Eriksen, pushing him back against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Gunner.

Gunner breaks the clinch.
Gunner swats away the attempt to clinch by Eriksen.
Gunner throws a big counter combination but Eriksen scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Eriksen looks to throw the jab but Gunner is out of range.
Eriksen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gunner is fending him off so far but Eriksen persists. Nope, Gunner circles away and we're back to standing.

Gunner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Eriksen to the mat! Eriksen manages to get full guard.
Gunner loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Eriksen tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Eriksen looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gunner has picked Eriksen up and slammed him! Eriksen can't keep hold of the triangle and Gunner manages to pass to side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Eriksen tries to improve position but can't.

Gunner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Gunner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Eriksen to the ground. Gunner is now in Eriksen's guard.

Eriksen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gunner has passed into side control.

Gunner landing strikes from the mount and Eriksen is in trouble!
Eriksen is trying desperately to improve position.

Gunner content just to control the position here.

Gunner working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Gunner lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Gunner has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Gunner is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Eriksen is defending well though. Gunner let's go of the attempt for now.

Eriksen is trying to get back to his feet but Gunner has full control of the position and if anything, Eriksen has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gunner lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Gunner keeps control of the position easily here as Eriksen tries to buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Eriksen jumps guard but Gunner stands there with Eriksen around his waist. Eriksen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gunner has closed the distance and engaged Eriksen in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eriksen is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Gunner is keeping busy.

Gunner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Eriksen tries to clinch but Gunner moves out of range.

Gunner has closed the distance and engaged Eriksen in a clinch.
Gunner prevents the takedown attempt.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Gunner as Eriksen tries to tie him up.

Gunner is trying to trip Eriksen. He has hold of a leg but Eriksen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gunner persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Gunner wanted to stand there but Eriksen had control of the position.

Eriksen throws his legs up looking for a submission but Gunner uses it to pass to side control.
Gunner in side control lands a decent elbow.

Gunner wants to stand but Eriksen has his arm trapped.
Gunner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gunner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gunner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Eriksen can do to turn this around?
Gunner content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Gunner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Eriksen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gunner stands up.

Gunner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gunner slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Eriksen is trying to control Gunner's posture but Gunner avoids it.
Gunner controls the position from side control.

Eriksen manages to get back to half guard.
Gunner with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gunner is working for a kimura but Eriksen is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Gunner dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Eriksen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gunner's waist but Gunner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eriksen off to one side.

Gunner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Eriksen was covering up waiting for the punch and Gunner finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gunner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Gunner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gunner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Eriksen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gunner controls the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gunner drops an elbow to the side of Eriksen's head.
Gunner passes to full mount!
Eriksen is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.
Gunner cracks Eriksen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Gunner wants to finish this one by submission but Eriksen is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gunner.

Gunner goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Eriksen is on top in guard.
Gunner tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gunner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gunner tries to get out of the position.

Gunner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Eriksen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Gunner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Eriksen is one step ahead there.

Eriksen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gunner wants to stand and escape but Eriksen is having none of it.
Eriksen is fighting to break Gunner's control of his arms but Gunner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tim Gunner showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gunner has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
