PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wladyslaw Raginis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wladyslaw Raginis!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raginis jabs Hardy to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Raginis has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hardy is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Raginis misses with a kick to the body
and Hardy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Raginis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
It looked like Hardy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Raginis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hardy tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Raginis is in Hardy's guard.
Raginis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Raginis postures up in Hardy's guard and throws a big left but Hardy blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hardy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Raginis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hardy has momentary wrist control but Raginis slips an elbow through the middle.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Raginis throws a low kick, looking for Hardy's leg but Hardy calmly moves out of range.
Hardy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Hardy throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hardy misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Raginis to counter with a crisp jab.
Raginis scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd cheers as Hardy lands an impressive looking overhand right. Raginis doesn't seem phased though.
Hardy shoots in but Raginis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hardy takes a swing at Raginis's ribcage but misses.
Raginis only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Raginis moves into the clinch.
Raginis displaying some good clinch control by pressing Hardy up against the cage.

Hardy gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Raginis regains guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Raginis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hardy is trying to control Raginis's posture but Raginis avoids it.
Hardy managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Raginis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wladyslaw Raginis dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hardy went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Raginis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like Wladyslaw Raginis has been cut.
Raginis closes the distance looking to clinch
and Hardy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
No luck for Raginis with that takedown attempt.
The fighters circling - Hardy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hardy scores with a sloppy right hand. Raginis should have avoided that one.
Raginis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Raginis.

Raginis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Raginis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Hardy leaves Raginis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dan Hardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wladyslaw Raginis.

A counter left hand to the body from Hardy misses its target.
Hardy scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Raginis.
Raginis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hardy prevents it.
Raginis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Raginis is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hardy is defending well.

Raginis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hardy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Raginis is not going to allow Hardy to sit and survive in this position.

Raginis tries to keep control of the position but Hardy is staying busy.
Raginis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hardy haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Even with his hooks in, Raginis manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Raginis has managed to slip his arm under Hardy's chin. This could be all over... yep, Hardy is tapping out! Submission win for Raginis.
