PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hashem Mohsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Stannis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mohsen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mohsen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stannis tries to avoid it but Mohsen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stannis to the ground. Stannis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mohsen.
Stannis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mohsen tries to clinch up but Stannis circles away and keeps his distance.
A slapping body kick lands there for Mohsen.
Mohsen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stannis as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hashem Mohsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mohsen shoots in looking for a takedown but Stannis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mohsen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mohsen gets caught napping as Stannis dives in and scores a takedown. Mohsen manages to retain guard.

Mohsen is looking to control Stannis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mohsen avoid being mounted?

It looks like Stannis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Stannis lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
