Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Julio Mont Pere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons has chosen Dog Wild Heaven as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Mont Pere tries to clinch

and Simmons counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Simmons.
Mont Pere can't keep his opponent in guard - Simmons advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Simmons thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Simmons is trying to control the action in half guard but Mont Pere is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Simmons content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Mont Pere wants to improve his position but Simmons is controlling well.

Simmons is working for a kimura but Mont Pere is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simmons is looking to take a break and control but Mont Pere is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Simmons throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Simmons in particular looking to stall.

Mont Pere makes his way to full guard, as Simmons worked for a kimura.
Simmons throws a big elbow that misses.
Simmons controls from within his opponent's guard.
Simmons is pushing down on Mont Pere's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mont Pere is fighting to maintain full guard but Simmons has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mont Pere is not content to let Simmons control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Simmons dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Simmons takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mont Pere pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Simmons changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mont Pere looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Simmons has hold of Mont Pere's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mont Pere tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Simmons cranks the arm and Mont Pere screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mont Pere, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Fred Simmons!
A less than humble Fred Simmons misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
