Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmares walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Pukki's coach down at Fighting Fitness & Freedom was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pukki's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Palmares closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Palmares prevents the takedown attempt.
Palmares using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pukki has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Pukki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palmares as he avoids it easily.
Rodrigo Palmares has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joulu Pukki.
Pukki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Palmares's waist but Palmares gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pukki off to one side.

Pukki shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Palmares looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Pukki darts in looking for a takedown but Palmares gets double underhooks and turns Pukki into the cage.
Pukki tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Palmares swivels and escapes.
Palmares has closed the distance and engaged Pukki in a clinch.

Palmares has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pukki is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Palmares has Pukki pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pukki manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Palmares tries to pull guard but Pukki forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Pukki goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Palmares has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pukki but great work by Palmares.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Pukki has Palmares pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pukki pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Palmares tumbling to the mat - Pukki dives into Palmares's guard.

Joulu Pukki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
