The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin shoots in looking for a takedown but Brooks manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Karelin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brooks swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Karelin blocks a jab.
Brooks misses the shot to the body.
And Karelin tries to counter it with a takedown but Brooks pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Brooks takes a swing at Karelin's ribcage but misses.
Brooks lands with a cross.
Brooks lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Vitaly Karelin has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brooks definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Karelin working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Karelin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
It looks like Darren Brooks has been cut.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Karelin softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Brooks is out cold! Karelin jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Vitaly Karelin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
