PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mac Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Musa Altun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mac Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Musa Altun!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Altun shoots for a takedown but Coleman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Altun shoots in and drives through. Coleman sprawls well.
Coleman wants to clinch.
Altun looks for a takedown but Coleman sprawls well.
Mac Coleman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Musa Altun.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Altun moves to clinch but Coleman breaks away
and Coleman counters with a one-two to the body.
Altun is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A looping hook to the body misses from Altun. Coleman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Coleman has a takedown stuffed.

Altun tries a head kick but it misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Altun gets control of Coleman's arms and successfully pulls guard. Altun will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Coleman postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Altun has control of Coleman's left arm, preventing Coleman from doing any damage.
Altun is trying to control the position but Coleman postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coleman throwing strikes but missing.
Altun avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Altun looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Altun shoots in for a takedown but Coleman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Coleman moves into the clinch.
Coleman gets underhooks to prevent Altun's takedown attempt.

Coleman can't break the clinch.
Altun wants a takedown but no success here.
Altun looks winded!

Altun drags the fight down to the ground.
Coleman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Altun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coleman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Altun wants to sweep but no luck.
Coleman working some strikes from top position.
Coleman postures up.
Coleman stops Altun from standing up.
Altun wants to sweep here but Coleman controlling him for the moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Altun fails with a takedown attempt.
Altun shoots in looking for a takedown. Coleman tries to sprawl out of it but Altun keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coleman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Coleman tries to counter by clinching up but Altun breaks away and moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Altun tries a head kick but it misses.
As Altun tries to get set, Coleman tries to push him back and clinch up but Altun manages to avoid the attempt.
Coleman stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mac Coleman dominated that round.
That's time! Coleman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Altun wants to control the position but Coleman says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Coleman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Altun wants to control but Coleman passes into side.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Altun tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Altun tries to hold on but Coleman pushes him away.
Altun is in a horrible position here. Coleman smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Coleman connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Altun tries to reverse the position but Coleman maintains control.
Altun regains half guard.
Altun is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Altun is breathing heavily.
Coleman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Coleman is thwarting Altun's attempts to control the position.
Altun has a hand on Coleman's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Coleman takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Altun flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Altun tries to hold on but Coleman postures up.
Coleman lands a big shot there that rocks Altun but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mac Coleman dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Coleman swats away the attempt to clinch by Altun.
Altun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Coleman swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Coleman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Altun is trying to defend but Coleman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Coleman looks to land a strike but Altun avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Altun pulls Coleman in to control the position.
Altun wants to stand and escape but Coleman is having none of it.

Altun controls Coleman momentarily but Coleman frees himself.
Altun has momentary wrist control but Coleman slips an elbow through the middle.
Coleman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Altun can do to turn this around?
Coleman cracks Altun with a solid left hand.

Coleman with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Altun is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Coleman dives into side control.

Altun is trying to work for a sweep but Coleman has mounted him!
Altun is bucking up trying to escape but Coleman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Altun is in all sorts of trouble here.
Altun is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Altun takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Altun slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Altun is looking to improve his position.
Mac Coleman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Coleman is nestled in close to Altun, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Coleman slips a nice elbow through Altun's hands, connecting with Altun's forehead.
Altun blocking the ground and pound attempt from Coleman.
Altun wants to get back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Coleman connects with a nice short shot to Altun's temple.
Coleman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Coleman prevents Altun from improving his position.
Altun tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Coleman has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Altun wants to control but Coleman is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mac Coleman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Coleman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
