Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Ground (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Ground!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Travis Keller!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ground throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Keller steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Ground.
Keller keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Keller is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Ground shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Keller napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ground misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Keller pushes Ground away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ground gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Keller is being controlled here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keller stops Ground from passing to mount.
Ground looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Keller is avoiding damage well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The fighters circling - Ground throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Keller wants to counter with a clinch but Ground pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ground misses with a left hand

and Keller counters by clinching up.
Keller is looking for a takedown.

Ground lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Keller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ground. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ground wants to free his trapped foot but Keller is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Ground tries to pass to full mount but Keller defends it.
Ground is trying to control the action in half guard but Keller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Keller wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Ground is looking to take a break and control but Keller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Keller tries to sprawl but Ground drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ground is controlling the pace.
Keller is refusing to be controlled, as Ground sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Keller gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ground wants to control from the top but Keller keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ground sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Keller's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ground wants to lay and pray for a moment but Keller keeps working.
Mark Ground overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ground passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Keller's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Ground looking for a guillotine from mount but Keller is having none of it.

Ground moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Keller has worked his arm free - good work by Keller!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ground tries to score with some ground and pound. Keller controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Keller can do anything to dispel that myth.
A lull in the action here as Ground stalls from top position.
Ground tries to move to mount but Keller blocks the move with his legs.
Ground is looking to take a break and control but Keller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Keller is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ground shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ground was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ground tries to advance to mount but can't.

Ground goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Keller has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ground but great work by Keller.

Ground gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ground gets full guard.
Keller won't allow Ground to sweep him here.
Ground looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Keller puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Keller prevents Ground from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Ground dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Ground swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ground changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Keller takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Keller wants to counter the offense by Ground and move into the clinch position.
Ground is looking to land body kicks.
Keller wants to counter with a clinch but Ground pushes him away.
Ground throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ground shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ground showed some decent athleticism there.
Ground slows the pace down in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keller scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Ground manages to mount him!

Keller is squirming around, avoiding Ground's attempts to control the action.
Ground controlling the pace for now.

Keller wants to get back to his feet.
Ground wants to control the pace but Keller is squirming around nicely.
Ground is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Keller is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ground pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Travis Keller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ground seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Keller is holding on tight.
Ground can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Keller is looking to escape.

Ground with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Mark Ground showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ground, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Mark Ground was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
