Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Pearlman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and optimus Prime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). optimus Prime is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ron Pearlman!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, optimus Prime!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearlman closes the distance and clinches up with Prime, looking for a takedown. Pearlman pushes Prime against the cage but Prime circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Prime has a takedown stuffed.

Prime fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pearlman sprawls well initially but Prime persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pearlman is looking to get back to full guard here but Prime has managed to pass to side control instead.
Pearlman throwing hammer fists to the chest of Prime. What's that going to do exactly?
Pearlman prevents Prime from taking his back.
Prime tries to control but Pearlman wriggling away.

Prime jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pearlman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pearlman and Prime has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Pearlman tries to buck Prime off but Prime is having none of it.
Prime has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Pearlman!
Pearlman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Prime takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pearlman is looking to get to half guard.

Prime looking to control and managing it successfully.
Prime prevents Pearlman from getting the reversal.

Prime working for a guillotine from mount but Pearlman is in no mood to give up.

Prime has control of Pearlman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pearlman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pearlman tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Pearlman is trying to stand back up but Prime is controlling him

Prime with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Prime is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Prime jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pearlman manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Pearlman is looking for a sweep.

Prime decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pearlman to his feet.
Pearlman throws a head kick that misses.

Prime shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Pearlman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Prime fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Prime can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pearlman is looking to escape.
Pearlman wants to hold on but Prime pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pearlman somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Prime lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Pearlman misses with a takedown

and Prime counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pearlman is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pearlman is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Prime pulls his head out easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Prime seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Prime connects with a nice short shot to Pearlman's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Prime throws a right and a left that both miss.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Prime.
Prime taking a breather here.
Pearlman gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Pearlman regains half guard.

Prime is looking for a kimura here.
Pearlman is looking for a sweep. Prime is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Prime works his way into full mount!
Prime avoids the attempt from Pearlman to control.
optimus Prime has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pearlman can't escape the position.
Prime controlling from mount.
BOOM! Prime connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Pearlman tries to get back to half guard but can't.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pearlman throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

Prime has hold of Pearlman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pearlman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Pearlman is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pearlman tries to hold on but Prime postures up.
BOOM! Prime connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Pearlman is in all sorts of trouble here.

Prime fails to take his opponent's back.
Prime tries to control but Pearlman wriggling away.

Pearlman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Prime moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Prime shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pearlman as he jumps to the side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pearlman shoots in for a takedown but Prime shows good takedown defense.

Prime sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Prime throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

optimus Prime showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Prime tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pearlman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
optimus Prime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Prime shoots in for a double leg but Pearlman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Prime tries for a takedown but Pearlman circles away easily

and Pearlman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pearlman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice sprawl there from Prime as Pearlman shoots in.

Prime scores a takedown into full mount!
Prime controlling his opponent.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Pearlman's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pearlman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Pearlman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Prime has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pearlman's face.

Prime cracks Pearlman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Prime prevents Pearlman from getting the reversal.
Prime is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pearlman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Prime is working for a guillotine from mount but Pearlman frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pearlman has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Pearlman tries to escape but Prime has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Prime throwing damaging strikes from the back! Pearlman could be in trouble here!

Pearlman is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Prime is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Prime gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Prime gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Prime apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Prime doesn't manage to clinch there - Pearlman circles away.
Prime shoots in for a double leg but Pearlman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ron Pearlman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of optimus Prime.

Prime in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Pearlman tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Prime!
