Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Riddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roger Riddle has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roger Riddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lance Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lewis leaning his opponent against the cage.

Lewis jumps guard and drags Riddle to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lewis is pulling down on Riddle's head to control his posture.
Riddle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Riddle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lewis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Still in half guard, Lewis seems content to control.
Riddle is trying to maintain the position but Lewis is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lewis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lewis wants to free his trapped foot but Riddle is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Lewis is looking for a kimura but Riddle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lewis to get the leverage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Riddle is trying to stand back up but Lewis is controlling him
Lewis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Lewis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Riddle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lewis slows the pace down in half guard.

Lewis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Riddle is just riding it out for now. Lewis eventually gives up the hold.
Lewis tries to stand and escape but Riddle is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Riddle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Riddle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lewis on the ground.
Riddle wants to sweep but Lewis has passed to side control!
Riddle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lewis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lewis controls the position.

Lewis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Riddle, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lewis tries to stand but Riddle is controlling his head.

Lewis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Riddle has escaped the position, nice work there.
Riddle manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lewis manages to get to full guard.
Riddle wants to stand but Lewis is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Lewis dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Riddle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lewis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Lewis manages to break the clinch.
A head kick by Riddle misses

and Lewis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Riddle's guard.

Riddle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lewis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lewis wants to get up but he can't break Riddle's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riddle won't allow Lewis to pass to mount.

Lewis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Lewis slips a nice elbow through Riddle's hands, connecting with Riddle's forehead.
Lewis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Lewis is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Riddle has a hand on Lewis's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Lewis takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Riddle is in all sorts of trouble here.

Lewis lands a nice shot to the head.

Riddle is looking to get to half guard.

Lewis is standing up, even though he is in mount.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Riddle enables Lewis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Riddle manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Lewis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Lewis passes Riddle's left leg - he's now in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lewis controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Lewis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Lewis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Riddle pushes Lewis off looking to stand but Lewis dives back in and keeps control.

Riddle is rocked!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lewis connects with a nice short shot to Riddle's temple.
Oh Riddle is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lewis passes the guard and advances to mount!
Riddle seems to have got his legs back now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Riddle scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Lewis land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Lewis stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lance Lewis!
