PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Schurrel Zagreb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaius Octavius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zagreb comes to the cage accompanied by My Immortal. Gaius Octavius is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Octavius shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zagreb as he jumps to the side.

Octavius fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Zagreb to the ground. Octavius is now in Zagreb's guard.
Octavius prevents Zagreb from getting back to his feet.
Zagreb has momentary wrist control but Octavius slips an elbow through the middle.
Zagreb preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Octavius in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Zagreb will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Zagreb is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Octavius slips nicely into half guard.
Octavius has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zagreb wants to get back to full guard.

Octavius is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Zagreb sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Octavius is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Nice strikes from Octavius there.
Octavius thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zagreb's head.
Octavius throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Zagreb knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Octavius on the ground.
Octavius looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zagreb with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Octavius wants to pass to mount but Zagreb is defending the position.

Octavius is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Zagreb has managed to free his arm - good work.

Octavius has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Zagreb defend it? Octavius steps over the head and cranks it - Zagreb is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Octavius !
