PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hiranuka Stakanu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giant Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stakanu comes to the cage accompanied by Oy, To Ne Vecher. Khan has chosen Giant Khan Entrance as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiranuka Stakanu!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Giant Khan!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stakanu on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Stakanu gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Khan.
Khan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stakanu manages to avoid it.
Stakanu tries to close the distance and clinch but Khan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Khan scores with a body shot.
Khan throws a series of punches but Stakanu moves out of range.
Stakanu slips under a jab.
Stakanu is looking to clinch.

Khan looks to land a left hand but Stakanu moved out of range nicely.

Khan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stakanu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Khan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stakanu tries to clinch but Khan is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Khan throws a jab but it's blocked by Stakanu.
Stakanu shoots in but Khan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stakanu looks to land a combination but Khan avoids it well.

Khan looks to land a combination. Stakanu sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Hiranuka Stakanu has been cut.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Khan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Khan fails to land with a series of punches.
Khan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stakanu.
Khan throws a lazy right hand but Stakanu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stakanu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A slow jab from Stakanu misses its intended target.
Khan is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Stakanu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Khan.

Khan looks to score with a jab to the body but Stakanu is just out of range.
Stakanu lands a nice looking body shot.
Khan throws a hook to the side of Stakanu's head but Stakanu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nice straight punches there by Khan. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Khan.

Stakanu doesn't manage to clinch there - Khan circles away.

Khan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stakanu moves away.
Stakanu moves away from the strike by Khan.
Khan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Khan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Stakanu counters with a nice double leg into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Khan can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Khan wants to hold on but Stakanu pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Khan pushes Stakanu away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Stakanu gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Khan wants to control but Stakanu postures up.
Khan is looking to reverse the position.
Khan is breathing heavily.

Stakanu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stakanu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan is trying to control Stakanu's posture but Stakanu avoids it.
Khan tries to buck Stakanu off but Stakanu is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Khan manages to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stakanu seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Khan is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Hiranuka Stakanu!
