Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Duncan Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamahl Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Duncan Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jamahl Jones!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.

Jones pushes Lawler up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones scores with a shoulder strike.
Lawler tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones is pushing Lawler up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lawler decides to pull guard.
Lawler is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.
Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lawler is trying to keep Jones in close.
Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Lawler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lawler is on top in guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones is looking to stand up but Lawler isn't so interested in that idea.
Lawler trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lawler wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard.

Lawler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lawler has Jones in his guard.

Jones throwing strikes but missing.
Lawler pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jones stays in close to Lawler's body and controls the position.

Jones gets to his feet - Lawler follows without any prompting.
Lawler is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jones. That's going to slow Lawler down.
No joy there for Lawler, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Lawler shoots in.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones thows a body kick. Lawler tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Lawler is breathing heavily.
Lawler shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamahl Jones dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Lawler stops Jones from passing to mount.
Jones in side control lands a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawler seems a little lost for a moment, as Jones dominates the positioning.

Jones is trying to get an arm triangle but Lawler is defending well.
Jones taking a break here but Lawler is having none of it and regains half guard.

Lawler slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jones wants to control from the top but Lawler keeps moving.

Lawler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.
Jones is working Lawler over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lawler is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Lawler is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Jones shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Jones stands up out of the half guard.
Jones shoots in but Lawler avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lawler defends it well.
Jones misses with a double jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lawler.
Jones dives in and grabs Lawler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lawler pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Lawler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lawler attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Lawler darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Lawler into the cage.
Lawler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Lawler takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Duncan Lawler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jones pushes Lawler up against the cage in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jones manages to break the clinch.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jones decides to stand up.

Jones closes the distance and pushes Lawler back into the cage.
Jones lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones tightens his grip and picks Lawler up, before dumping him to the ground. Lawler manages to land in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Lawler is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamahl Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Jones has closed the distance and engaged Lawler in a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lawler tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Lawler's guard.
Jamahl Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Lawler manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawler trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Lawler looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lawler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Lawler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lawler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duncan Lawler. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into Lawler's guard.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Lawler is retaining full guard.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jones landing some decent shots from guard.

Jones is stalling in the full guard.

Lawler is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Lawler shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
Jones taking a breather here.
Lawler wants to control but Jones postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lawler to see if he's OK.
Duncan Lawler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jamahl Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Jamahl Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
