Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tintop closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sanford's guard.
Sanford trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Tintop engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sanford keeping full guard, as Tintop tries to pass.
Tintop trying to control but Sanford is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tintop wants to stand but Sanford has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sanford keeping moving, preventing Tintop from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Tintop shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sanford is trying to defend but Tintop finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Sanford has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Tintop is on him like a limpet, forcing Sanford back against the cage.

Sanford is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Sanford as Tintop tries to tie him up.
Tintop has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Tintop wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tintop tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Sanford gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Tintop working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Tintop wants to control from the top but Sanford keeps moving.
Tintop wants to stand and escape but instead Sanford has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Sanford postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Tintop has momentary wrist control but Sanford slips an elbow through the middle.
Sanford content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Sanford is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Sanford is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Jkaris Tintop has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sanford throws a big elbow that misses.
Sanford distracts Tintop with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Sanford loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Tintop tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Tintop is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sanford throwing strikes but missing.
Sanford postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sanford fails with a takedown attempt.

Tintop clinches up with Sanford and pushes him back against the cage.

Tintop has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Tintop gets control of Sanford's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tintop will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tintop can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sanford is looking to work some ground and pound but Tintop has wrist control.
Tintop will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Tintop avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Tintop is looking to stand up but Sanford isn't so interested in that idea.
Tintop not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Tintop has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sanford off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Tintop is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sanford's half guard.

Tintop trying to advance position but Sanford counters by regaining guard.

Tintop trying to move into half guard but instead Sanford has managed to sweep!

Jkaris Tintop showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Tintop really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanford. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Tintop stands up and waves to Sanford to follow him.
Sanford throws a sloppy head kick and Tintop moves out of range easily.

Sanford is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sanford thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Tintop drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sanford looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sanford looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sanford!


Sanford tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanford has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sanford has hold of Tintop's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Tintop seems comfortable defending it but Sanford has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Tintop is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Tintop is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sanford couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Newton Sanford!
