Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mads Nielsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mads Nielsen has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mads Nielsen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Green closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Green just leaning against Nielsen, taking a breather.
Nielsen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Green fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nielsen shoots in looking for a takedown but Green manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nielsen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nielsen shoots in but no luck this time.
Mike Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mads Nielsen.
Nielsen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Green takes the fight into the clinch.
Nielsen trying to control the position but instead, Green has worked for underhooks and has pushed Nielsen into the cage.

Green breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nielsen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Green as he avoids it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nielsen enables Green to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nielsen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Nielsen is looking for a triangle here but Green uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Green tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Green has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Green wants to stand but Nielsen is controlling his arm.

Green tries for a kimura but Nielsen is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Nielsen's face as Green controls the position.

A control attempt from Nielsen but he's now mounted!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nielsen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Green content just to control the position here.
Nielsen reaches up to try and control the position but Green seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Nielsen rolls and tries to escape and now Green has his back!
What can Nielsen do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Green is looking for the choke from the back position but Nielsen is controlling his hands well.
Nielsen is covering up but some of the strikes from Green are getting through and doing damage.
Green scores with punches to the body.
Green is landing with strikes from the back.
Nielsen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Green. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nielsen is covering up but some of the strikes from Green are getting through and doing damage.
Nielsen tries to escape but Green has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Nielsen is trying to get back to his feet but Green has full control of the position and if anything, Nielsen has just worked his way into a worse spot.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Green was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Green controlling the positon.
Nielsen tries to roll but Green sticks to his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Nielsen closes the distance and clinches up with Green, looking for a takedown. Nielsen pushes Green against the cage but Green circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Green bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Green happy to just control the position for now.
Green trying to control the action but Nielsen is working from the bottom.
Green moves into full mount!

Green is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nielsen can do to turn this around?
Green takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Nielsen wants to control but Green is having none of it.
Nielsen is looking to get to half guard.

Green with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Nielsen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Nielsen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Green seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Nielsen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Green is working away from the top position though.

Green is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Nielsen is trying to stand up here but Green is controlling him well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Green tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nielsen swivels and escapes.
Green does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Green tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nielsen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Green somewhat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nielsen is defended easily by Green.
Nielsen looks for a takedown but Green sprawls well.
Mike Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mads Nielsen.
Green fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Green. No joy for Nielsen on that attempt.
Green throws a big counter combination but Nielsen scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Mike Green is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Green has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
