Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderson Dos Pintos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dos Pintos has chosen Totentanz as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wanderson Dos Pintos!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Bates.
Dos Pintos misses with a few strikes there.

Dos Pintos closes the distance and clinches.
A short right from Dos Pintos.
Bates wants to break the clinch but can't.

Dos Pintos pulls guard effortlessly.
Bates throws a strike but Dos Pintos rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dos Pintos is stalling in the full guard.
Bates really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bates will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bates will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Bates regains half guard.

Dos Pintos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dos Pintos is taking a breather. Bates says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Dos Pintos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bates defends it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dos Pintos works his way into full mount!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Let's hope that Dos Pintos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

As Dos Pintos tries to get set, Bates tries to push him back and clinch up but Dos Pintos manages to avoid the attempt.

Bates wants to stand but Dos Pintos is controlling the position.
