Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ara Givi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ara Givi has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Robert Robertson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ara Givi!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson dodges the punch combination from Givi.
Robertson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
And Givi tries to counter it with a takedown but Robertson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Robertson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Givi wants to counter the offense by Robertson and move into the clinch position.
Robertson throws a shot from downtown. Givi moves away and avoids it.
Givi throws a head kick that misses.
An attempted straight right counter from Robertson misses the target.
The fight stays on the outside here - Givi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Robertson tried to counter with a leg kick but Givi avoided it.
Robertson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Givi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

It looks like Ara Givi has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Givi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Robertson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Givi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Givi darts in looking for a takedown but Robertson gets double underhooks and turns Givi into the cage.
It looked like Robertson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Givi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Robertson.
Robertson throws a leg kick but Givi moved away.

Both fighters circling a little - Robertson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Robertson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Givi throws a low kick but Robertson moves out of range easily.
Givi throws a shot from downtown. Robertson moves away and avoids it.
Robertson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Robertson drops his shoulder and cracks Givi with a huge uppercut! Givi goes down! Can Robertson finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Givi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Robertson is aware though and is defending well.
Robertson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robertson is working Givi over with some ground and pound from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Robertson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Robertson passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Givi!

Robertson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Robertson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

and Givi counters with a shoot takedown. Robertson fights it but they end up in guard.
Robertson is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Last Dragon MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Givi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Robertson swivels and escapes.

Givi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Robertson is trying to defend but Givi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Robertson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Givi is working away from the top position though.

Givi wants to work for an arm triangle but Robertson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Givi is nestled in close to Robertson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
My spies in The Iron Works $500 Elite Coaches inform me that Givi has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Givi is looking for a kimura but Robertson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Givi to get the leverage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Robertson throws a low kick, looking for Givi's leg but Givi calmly moves out of range.
Robertson sets himself, and Givi steps forward looking for the clinch! Robertson avoids it this time.

Robertson bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Givi! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Robertson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Givi is defended easily by Robertson.
A combination from Givi does no damage.
Horrible takedown attempt by Givi or perhaps it was just good defense by Robertson, which made it look bad.
Robertson fires out a quick counter leg kick but Givi just manages to avoid it.
Givi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Givi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Givi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Robertson but Robertson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Robert Robertson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ara Givi.

Givi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Robertson.
A slapping leg kick lands for Robertson.

and Robertson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


The cut above Ara Givi's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Givi gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Robertson gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Robertson!
Robert Robertson took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'It really wasn't a fair fight. I am awesome and he just sucks.'.
