PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Reilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kingston Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Kingston Young is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kingston Young!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reilly tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Young paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Young tries a head kick but it misses.
Reilly swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Young moves into the clinch successfully.
Young looks winded!
Reilly is trying to push Young away but Young has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Reilly tries to break the clinch but Young is controlling the position.
Young has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Reilly is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Young prevents Reilly from breaking the clinch.
Young tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Reilly smiles and moves away.
Nice defenses there by Young.
Young misses with a head kick.
As Young looks to move away, Reilly throws a big counter combo bu Young just gets out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Young fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Freddy Reilly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kingston Young.

Reilly dives in and scores a takedown into Young's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Young can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Reilly controls the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reilly has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Reilly might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reilly shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Young manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Reilly engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Reilly.

Reilly's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Reilly continues to hold on tight.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reilly manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Young on his heels. He'll look to pass Young's guard now, I'm sure.
Reilly could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Reilly stands and steps away. Young gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reilly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The referee is keeping an eye on Reilly - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A frustrated look appears on Reilly's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Young keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Reilly's efforts to push away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Reilly wants to break the clinch but can't.
Young keeps control of Reilly as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Reilly is pressed up against the cage. Young has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reilly down to the mat. Reilly avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Young is looking to stand up but Reilly isn't so interested in that idea.
Freddy Reilly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Reilly looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Young!
You can see the frustration on Young's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Young pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Young shoots in for a takedown but Reilly shows good takedown defense.
Reilly tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Young manages to circle out of the way.
Young keeps the fight on the outside.
Reilly throws a sloppy head kick and Young moves out of range easily.

Reilly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Reilly is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

It looked like Reilly was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reilly is trying to force a seperation but Young has the dominant position.

Young managing to block the knees to the body from Reilly.
Young is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Reilly is defending well.

Well Reilly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
