Poupko shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Poupko is looking to stall here but Bates recovers full guard.
Poupko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bates swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Poupko looking to improve position, pressing down on Bates's thigh with his hand. Bates seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Poupko paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Poupko's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Bates picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
