PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cow Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marty Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cow Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marty Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Peterson throws a body kick that misses.

Bell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Peterson tries to break the clinch but Bell is controlling the position.
Peterson takes an elbow to the forehead.
Bell is trying to break free.
Peterson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Peterson jumps guard but Bell stands there with Peterson around his waist. Peterson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bell blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bell wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Peterson has him pressed against the cage.
Peterson tries to score a body lock takedown but Bell shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Peterson.
Bell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Peterson wants to get back to striking at distance but Bell won't allow it.

Cow Bell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marty Peterson.

Peterson shoots for a double leg takedown but Bell sprawls well. He's pushed Peterson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Cow Bell will probably get the nod.

Bell looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Peterson!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Peterson wants to get back to his feet but Bell drags him back down.
Peterson is looking to reverse the position.
Peterson tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Peterson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Bell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Peterson can do to turn this around?
Bell prevents Peterson from improving his position.
Bell tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Peterson.
Peterson wants to control but Bell is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Peterson is not content to let Bell control the position.
Bell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peterson on the ground.
Bell tries to stand and escape but Peterson is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peterson is trying to control but can't.
Peterson regains full guard. Nicely done.

Bell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Peterson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Bell instigates a clinch.
Peterson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Cow Bell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marty Peterson.
Peterson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bell walks away with a smile on his face. Peterson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Peterson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Peterson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bell fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Peterson moves in looking to clinch but Bell pushes him off.

Peterson shoots in for a takedown but Bell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bell lands a head kick!
Bell tries to clinch there but Peterson circles away.
Jab, jab by Peterson - just one landing.

Peterson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Peterson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Peterson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Bell keeps the fight on the outside.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bell fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Bell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cow Bell dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Bell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Bell is trying to break the clinch but Peterson is controlling him.

Bell wants to break free but Peterson has control.
Bell lands a left hand that snaps the head of Peterson backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson manages to pull guard.

Bell drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Peterson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bell has Peterson in his guard.

Bell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Peterson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Peterson is working Bell over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bell keeping moving, preventing Peterson from controlling successfully.
Peterson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Peterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Peterson passes Bell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Peterson wants to control but Bell is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Bell is trying to escape back to his feet but Peterson uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Bell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Peterson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

You can see the frustration on Bell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Peterson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Peterson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Peterson shoots in looking for a takedown. Bell tries to sprawl out of it but Peterson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bell looks to land a combination. Peterson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Peterson avoids the head kick by Bell.
Marty Peterson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cow Bell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bell moves out of range of the body kick from Peterson.

I would just about give that final round to Marty Peterson.
I think Bell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
