PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maester Ochu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurokawa Kenji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kurokawa Kenji was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maester Ochu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 23 - 1, fighting out of London, Kurokawa Kenji!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ochu lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Kenji sprawling to the canvas. Ochu follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Kenji hang on?


It looks like Kurokawa Kenji has been cut.
Ochu is looking to take a break and control but Kenji is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ochu thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kenji's head.

Ochu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kenji sees it coming and defends easily.
Kenji is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kenji blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ochu.
Ochu is trying to control the action in half guard but Kenji is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ochu is working for a kimura but Kenji is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kenji wants to improve his position but Ochu is controlling well.
Ochu trying to control the action but Kenji is working from the bottom.
Ochu keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kenji pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ochu is out of range and Kenji settles back down.
Ochu throws a lazy right hand but Kenji sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ochu lands with a nice body kick.
Kenji throws a front kick aimed at Ochu's knee but Ochu avoids it well.
Ochu feinted with a counter takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kenji looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ochu jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ochu misses with a hook. Kenji ducked under it nicely.
Kenji misses with a low kick.
Kenji tries a low kick but Ochu avoids it.
Ochu jabs Kenji right on the nose. Kenji blinks but takes it well.
Kenji steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ochu.
Ochu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ochu lands a jab to the head.


That has opened up Kurokawa Kenji's cut even more.
Ochu throws a head kick that half lands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kenji is looking to slow Ochu down with leg kicks.
Kurokawa Kenji is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick misses from Ochu.
Kenji keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Kenji feints the counter takedown.
Kenji connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenji throws a leg kick but Ochu moved away.

Ochu instigates a clinch.
Kenji gets underhooks to prevent Ochu's takedown attempt.
Ochu lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Ochu misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kenji makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Ochu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick from Kenji lands but Ochu takes it in his stride.


It looks like Maester Ochu has been cut.
Good work by Ochu as he checks the leg kick.
Ochu drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kenji sprawls and moves away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kenji.
Some bone on bone action there as Ochu checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Ochu avoids a kick to the body.
Kenji misses with a low kick.
Kenji attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
It looked like Ochu was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Ochu is looking to slow Kenji down with leg kicks.
Ochu connects with a nice looking jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kenji tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kenji throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kenji misses with a low kick.
Kenji pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ochu is out of range and Kenji settles back down.
That kick from Kenji tenderised Ochu's leg. Ochu is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ochu misses with a double jab.
Kenji finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Ochu connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kenji's hands.


The cut above Kurokawa Kenji's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Ochu on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kenji. Kenji obviously looking to wear him down.
Ochu looks to land a combination but Kenji avoids it well.
Kenji tries a quick counter leg kick but Ochu is wise to it.
Kenji thumps Ochu with a low kick.
Kenji fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ochu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A slow jab from Kenji misses its intended target.
Kenji defending well as Ochu loads up on a big left hand.
Ochu backing away here, and Kenji unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maester Ochu dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Ochu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kenji misses with a looping left.
Ochu tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kenji throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Kenji will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Ochu throws a push kick but Kenji slaps the foot to one side.
A little jabbing left from Kenji on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kenji rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ochu counters with a nice uppercut.
Kenji displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ochu throws out the jab.
Ochu has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kenji.
Ochu throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kenji feints a counter leg kick.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kurokawa Kenji seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kenji wants to land a leg kick but Ochu is out of range.
Maester Ochu is winning the standup battle so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kenji fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kenji.
Ochu stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kenji fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ochu checks it well.
Kenji lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ochu's sensitive parts.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kenji.
Kenji looks to score with a jab to the body but Ochu is just out of range.
Ochu misses with a few strikes there.
Kenji attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Kenji sizes up Ochu with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ochu works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ochu looks to land a right hand but Kenji moved out of range.
Kenji motions for Ochu to come forward. Kenji throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kenji looks to land a body kick but Ochu moved away.
Ochu misses with a hook.
A low kick from Kenji misses

and Ochu counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kurokawa Kenji's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kurokawa Kenji's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Maester Ochu!
