Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Abel Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zin Foe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Abel Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zin Foe!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Foe with that takedown attempt.
Cruz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Foe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cruz gets a double leg takedown into Foe's guard.
Foe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cruz preventing the sweep.
Cruz forces his way into half guard.
Cruz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Foe moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Foe had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cruz defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cruz postures up.
Cruz slips nicely into half guard.
Foe is in trouble now - Cruz has advanced to mount!
Cruz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Foe is looking to escape.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cruz goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Foe turns into him and now he's in Cruz's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Foe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cruz seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Foe won't allow Cruz to sweep him here.
Cruz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cruz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cruz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Foe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cruz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cruz postures up in Foe's guard and throws a big left but Foe blocks it.
Cruz with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cruz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cruz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Foe tries to bench press Cruz off him but Cruz keeps the position.
Cruz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Foe is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Cruz controls the position.
Foe tries to improve position but can't.
Cruz is looking to take a break and control but Foe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cruz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Foe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Cruz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Foe is trying to escape the position but Cruz is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cruz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Cruz lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Foe down.

Cruz has hold of Foe's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Foe tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cruz cranks the arm and Foe screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Foe, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Abel Cruz!
