Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Riley Biers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riley Biers has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Riley Biers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Powell!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Biers wants to clinch but Powell slips to the side

and Powell counters with a single leg into guard. Biers didn't expect that.
Biers wants to sweep but no luck.
Powell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Biers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Powell trying to control but Biers is working from the bottom.
Powell wants to pass the guard but Biers is keeping the position.
Biers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Powell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Powell won't allow Biers to sweep him here.
Powell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Biers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Biers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Powell defends well.
Powell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Powell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Biers sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powell somewhat.
Powell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Biers as he jumps to the side.

and Powell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Biers's guard.

Biers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Biers trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Biers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Powell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Powell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Powell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Powell with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Biers manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Powell manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Biers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Powell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Biers passes Powell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Powell is trying to control but Biers manages to pass to mount!
Biers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Biers cracks Powell with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Biers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Powell is trying to control Biers's posture but Biers avoids it.
Powell is not content to let Biers control the position.
Powell stops Biers from passing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Biers is trying to get an arm triangle but Powell is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Biers trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Biers lands a big elbow.
Biers throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Biers tries to control but Powell wriggling away.

Biers is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Biers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Powell's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Biers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Biers lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Powell closes the distance and clinches up with Biers, looking for a takedown. Powell pushes Biers against the cage but Biers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No joy there for Powell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Biers goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


Powell is rocked!


It looks like Michael Powell has been cut.
Biers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Powell can do to turn this around?
Biers throws a series of punches but Powell moves out of range.
Powell is still on wobbly legs! Can Biers finish him?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Powell is trying to escape back to his feet but Biers uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Biers has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Biers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Biers is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Powell has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
