PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Axel Whitecoat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Stanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whitecoat comes to the ring accompanied by Seven Nation Army. Stanson has chosen Until The End as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 30 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Axel Whitecoat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Stanson!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ron Honeybunn and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitecoat leaves Stanson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Whitecoat on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Stanson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Whitecoat.

Stanson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Whitecoat was covering up waiting for the punch and Stanson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Stanson wants to pass the guard but Whitecoat is keeping the position.
Stanson stands up over Whitecoat, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whitecoat trying to control the position.
Whitecoat looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Stanson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stanson throwing shots but Whitecoat is blocking nicely.
Stanson prevents Whitecoat from improving his position.
Whitecoat is refusing to be controlled, as Stanson sits in half guard.
Whitecoat wants to control but Stanson is keeping busy.
Whitecoat is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Palazzo Paisano, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Stanson lands strikes from half guard.
Stanson throws a strike but Whitecoat avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Stanson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stanson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stanson throws a big right hand that misses.

Stanson trying to control the position from guard on top but Whitecoat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stanson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Whitecoat's guard.
Whitecoat tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Stanson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Poor strikes thrown by Stanson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Whitecoat is working to get back to half guard.
Stanson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Whitecoat is wriggling around trying to escape.
Stanson wants to control the pace but Whitecoat is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stanson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Whitecoat wants to hold on but Stanson pushes him away.
Whitecoat keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Stanson landing strikes from the mount.
Whitecoat is trying to escape the mount.

Whitecoat tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stanson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Whitecoat is looking to get to half guard.
Whitecoat is bucking up trying to escape but Stanson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Stanson postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Whitecoat bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Stanson and the fight is over!
