Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 46 - 23 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Kovalenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Calypso!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovalenko throws a shot from downtown. Calypso moves away and avoids it.
Calypso takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nikolai Kovalenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Calypso checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kovalenko throws a big shot that misses.
A little jabbing left from Calypso on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Calypso closes the distance and clinches up with Kovalenko, looking for a takedown. Calypso pushes Kovalenko against the cage but Kovalenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kovalenko tries a head kick but it misses.
Calypso just misses with a punch to the body.

Calypso drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Calypso is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Calypso throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Kovalenko works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Kovalenko makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Kovalenko throws a push kick but Calypso slaps the foot to one side.
Calypso throws out a counter right but Kovalenko avoids it with no problem.

And Calypso tries to counter it with a takedown but Kovalenko pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Kovalenko moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Kovalenko misses with a double jab.
Calypso unleashes a big counter combination but Kovalenko bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Kovalenko throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Calypso drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kovalenko defends it well.
Kovalenko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kovalenko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kovalenko throws a head kick that misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kovalenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Calypso.
Calypso swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Kovalenko throws a lazy uppercut

and Calypso counters with a single leg into guard. Kovalenko didn't expect that.
Kovalenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Calypso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kovalenko's guard.
Calypso tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kovalenko knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikolai Kovalenko dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Kovalenko lands a big uppercut and Calypso crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Calypso looks OK. Kovalenko waves Calypso back to his feet!
