Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matthew Clay!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay throws a push kick but Reed slaps the foot to one side.
Reed misses with a leg kick.
Clay ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reed moves away.
It appears Reed was looking to counter with a kick there.
Clay takes a swing at Reed's ribcage but misses.
Clay moves out of range of the leg kick from Reed.
Clay is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Reed with a body shot.
Reed scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Clay scores with a body shot.
Clay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reed was well out of range. Poor timing from Clay.
Clay tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Reed lets loose with a powerful body kick. Clay will feel that in the morning.
Reed keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clay just misses with a punch to the body.
Clay is looking to score with low kicks.
Reed uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Clay.

Clay shoots in and gets a takedown into Reed's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Clay wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.
Clay wants to pass the guard but Reed is keeping the position.
Clay trying to control the position from guard on top but Reed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Clay controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Clay is looking to work some ground and pound but Reed has wrist control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Reed wants to sweep here but Clay controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reed throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Clay counters with a body kick.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reed moves out of range of the leg kick from Clay.
Clay throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Reed half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Clay checks the leg kick.
Reed connects with an inside leg kick.
Reed is looking to chop away at Clay's legs.
Clay counters with a body kick.
Reed keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Clay misses the target.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Reed checks a leg kick.
Reed misses with a low kick.
Reed throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Clay throws a series of punches but Reed avoids them all with ease.

Clay feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Clay loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reed pivots, looking for a leg kick but Clay is out of range and Reed settles back down.
Clay drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Reed defends it well.
Reed finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Clay feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Reed tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Clay wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.
Clay won't allow Reed to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reed works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Reed looking for a sweep. Not yet Reed, not yet.
Clay wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clay throwing strikes but missing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Reed misses with a kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Clay dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Reed.

Reed throws a strike aimed at the side of Clay's head but Clay avoids it well.
Clay is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Reed's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Clay is not content to let Reed control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Reed is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Clay moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Reed tries to free his leg and advance position but Clay is retaining full guard.

Clay tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reed scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reed looking to sit in guard and control but Clay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Reed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Clay passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Clay controls the position.
Matthew Clay has got the better of the ground game so far.
Clay wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reed keeps working.
Reed taking punishment in the form of punches.
Clay is chipping away with strikes.

Clay creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Clay working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.


Reed is rocked!
Clay has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Clay goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Reed turns into him and now he's in Clay's guard.

Reed drops back, looking for a kneebar! Clay looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Clay looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Clay!

Sloppy strikes there by Clay.
Reed is looking to reverse the position.
Reed is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Clay is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Reed is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clay raining down shots from the mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matthew Clay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Reed lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Clay misses with a looping right.
Clay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Clay walks forward, straight into a front kick from Reed.

and Reed counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Clay closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Clay lands in his opponent's guard.

Reed on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reed tries to get out of the position.

Clay can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Reed is looking to escape.
Reed is looking to improve his position but Clay isn't that keen on the idea.

Reed taking shots to the head.
Oh Reed is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Clay is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Reed goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Clay!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Matthew Clay!
Matthew Clay tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
