These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Cage!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andriy Kuzmenko!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kuzmenko takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kuzmenko chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cage can pounce on him.
Kuzmenko is looking to clinch but Cage is avoiding it.
Cage circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd cheers as Kuzmenko lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cage doesn't seem phased though.
Cage scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Kuzmenko takes the fight into the clinch.
Cage works on Kuzmenko's body with a couple of short punches.
Kuzmenko looks winded!
Cage misses with a punch on the inside.
A right handed body shot lands from Cage.
Cage struggles to land a body shot inside as Kuzmenko controls his hands.
Cage tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Cage throws a head punch that misses.

Kuzmenko breaks the clinch.
Cage stuns Kuzmenko with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kuzmenko moves into range and clinches up with Cage.
Kuzmenko tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kuzmenko is trying to break the clinch but Cage is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cage lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Cage breaks the clinch.
A right-left combo lands from Cage.
Cage fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A swing and a miss from Cage.

Kuzmenko rushes Cage and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cage misses with some punches.
Kuzmenko wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kuzmenko wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Kuzmenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kuzmenko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A nice leg kick lands there from Cage.
Kuzmenko wants to clinch.
Cage thuds his shin into the meat of Kuzmenko's side.
Cage wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kuzmenko misses with a low kick as Cage jumps back.
Cage cracks Kuzmenko with a right hand to the side of the head.
Cage jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cage connects with a high kick.
Cage jabs at Kuzmenko's body.
Kuzmenko takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Kuzmenko lands a really nice looking cross but Cage seems unphased.
Kuzmenko steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Cage. That one must have hurt.
Kuzmenko misses with a wild combination.
Cage moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Cage lands a left and a right that send Kuzmenko crashing to the mat, dazed. Cage thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Kuzmenko is rocked!


It looks like Andriy Kuzmenko has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kuzmenko. Cage does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've been told by Cage's head coaches at School Of Hard Knocks that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cage lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cage throws an overhand right that drops Kuzmenko like a sack of potatoes! Cage dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Cage!
