PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean McNamara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Riordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McNamara comes to the cage accompanied by Massive Attack - Teardrop (House M.D.). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean McNamara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tommy Riordan!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNamara swinging wildly here.
McNamara fails with the takedown.
Riordan lands with a nice body punch.
Riordan misses with a hook. McNamara ducked under it nicely.
McNamara avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Riordan lands the left hand.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Riordan is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

We've been told by McNamara's head coaches at Main Event Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
McNamara tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Riordan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McNamara lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by McNamara.
No joy there for Riordan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McNamara slips a straight right by Riordan.
McNamara throws a big counter combination but Riordan scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Riordan moves into range and connects with a jab.

McNamara stalks Riordan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Riordan's face. Riordan staggers backwards, shaken.

McNamara gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Riordan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McNamara works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Riordan prevents McNamara from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And Riordan tries to counter it with a takedown but McNamara pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Riordan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McNamara did well to prevent Riordan getting side control.

McNamara regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Riordan.
Riordan throws an elbow that misses. McNamara uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Riordan's guard. Nice move by McNamara!

Riordan cracks McNamara with a right hand to the side of the head.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riordan is defended easily by McNamara.

Tommy Riordan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McNamara swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Riordan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McNamara but McNamara pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McNamara uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Riordan.
Riordan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
McNamara misses with a two punch combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McNamara takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Riordan misses with a takedown attempt - McNamara sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A close round but Tommy Riordan will probably get the nod.

McNamara looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Riordan tries to roll over but McNamara keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McNamara looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riordan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McNamara is fending him off so far but Riordan persists. Nope, McNamara circles away and we're back to standing.

Riordan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McNamara tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Riordan is in McNamara's guard.

Riordan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McNamara moves away.

McNamara fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Riordan to the ground. McNamara is now in Riordan's guard.

McNamara pushes down on Riordan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Riordan tries to roll over but McNamara keeps him under control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Riordan throws an elbow that misses. McNamara uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Riordan's guard. Nice move by McNamara!

McNamara not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
McNamara wants to control from the top but Riordan keeps moving.

McNamara is taking a breather. Riordan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Sean McNamara showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McNamara has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
