Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alfonzo Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Piquette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alfonzo Gates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wayne Piquette!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piquette showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gates.

Gates gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Piquette to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gates pulls Piquette in close to prevent any damage.

Piquette stands and steps away. Gates gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Piquette moves into the clinch successfully.

Piquette turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Piquette manages to end up in side control.
Gates is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Piquette is controlling him well.
Piquette remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Gates wants to control but Piquette postures up.
Gates trying his best to control but Piquette has mounted him.
Piquette takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Piquette tries to control but Gates wriggling away.
Gates wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Piquette cracks Gates with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Gates is rocked!

Piquette is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Oh Gates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Piquette steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Gates is out on his feet! Piquette sets himself and nearly takes Gates's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
