Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Will Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jase Hein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by DMX X GONNA GIVE IT TO YOU. The key to victory for Will Smith has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Will Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jase Hein!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a low kick as Hein jumps back.
Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hein doesn't seem bothered though.
Hein fails to land with a series of punches.
Hein takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Hein clinches with his opponent.

Hein successfully pulls guard.

Hein is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.
Hein lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Smith looking to control.
Hein must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hein puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Smith looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Hein is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hein is pressing down on Smith's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smith is holding on for now.
Hein prevents Smith from standing back up.

Hein is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hein working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hein's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hein's back!

Smith has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hein has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Hein is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith gets his hands free as Hein looks to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith is hanging on to Hein's back as he tries to escape.

Smith is looking for the choke from the back position but Hein is controlling his hands well.
I really don't envy Hein right now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Hein is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Smith gets his way!

Hein turns into Smith and is now in his guard.
Hein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Hein from controlling successfully.

Hein passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hein wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.

Hein has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Smith fails to land with a series of punches.
Hein gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hein takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smith punishes Hein's body with a nice straight punch.
Smith looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hein throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Smith throws a front kick aimed at Hein's knee but Hein avoids it well.
Smith pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Smith wants to slow Hein down by chopping away at his legs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hein closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jase Hein will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Smith listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Smith scores with a jab.
Smith misses with a wild combination.

Hein shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hein decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!
Will Smith is winning the standup battle so far.
Smith throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Will Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hein shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hein blocks a head kick by Smith.
Hein blocks a leg kick.
Hein with the counter takedown but Smith avoids it easily.
Hein avoids the head kick by Smith.
Hein tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hein somewhat.

Smith is looking to chop away at Hein's legs.
Hein wants to counter with a clinch but Smith pushes him away.
Smith fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Hein has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith is trying to force a seperation but Hein has the dominant position.
Hein fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Will Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jase Hein.

Hein breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hein walks into a stiff left hand from Smith.
Smith with a nice cross.
Hein slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Hein on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nice sprawl there from Smith as Hein shoots in.
Decent striking displayed by Smith there.

Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Hein dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hein pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hein or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad.
Smith with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hein on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Smith lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Smith lands a jab to Hein's midsection.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Smith uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Smith fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Hein is out of range.
Donk. Smith catches Hein right on the button with a cross.

Smith lands with a shot to the body.
Smith finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Hein on that attempt.
Smith swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Hein takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Will Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Smith lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Hein has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
A left lands for Smith.

Hein closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hein is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smith defends it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hein throws a strike but Smith manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Hein tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Will Smith!
Will Smith bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
