Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Etsu Kamon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Etsu Kamon has been cut.
Kamon dodges the punch combination from Karelin.
Karelin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kamon on the side of the head.
Nice takedown defense from Karelin. No joy for Kamon on that attempt.
Karelin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Karelin keeps the fight on the outside.
Aleksandr Karelin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karelin throws a nice looking combination but Kamon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Karelin drops Kamon with a beautiful combination! Kamon stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Karelin is looking for the KO!

No joy there for Karelin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kamon feinted with a counter takedown.
Karelin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kamon seems to have got his legs back now.

Karelin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Karelin circles away from the clinch attempt.

Karelin clinches up against the ropes.
Kamon blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kamon dodges an elbow strike from Karelin.

Karelin breaks the clinch.

Karelin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kamon is looking to regain half guard here but Karelin keeps moving and retains side control.
Kamon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Karelin off and has taken his back!

Kamon looking to break Karelin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Karelin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Kamon will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kamon has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Karelin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
