Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Chernicin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janu Malkriado Gyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janu Malkriado Gyan struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chernicin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Gyan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
As Chernicin backs off Gyan throws a huge counter combo but Chernicin manages to avoid it all.
Chernicin wants to clinch up but Gyan keeps it at a distance.
Gyan is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Gyan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Chernicin's guard.

Gyan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Chernicin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gyan is aware though and is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gyan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
