PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cho Ming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Milpid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Milpid is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Stupify. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cho Ming!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Milpid!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milpid shoots in but Ming avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ming throws a quick counter head kick but Milpid was just out of range.
Milpid shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ming pinned against the ropes. Ming gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Milpid goes for a double leg but Ming avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Ming continues to drive forward.
Cho Ming has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Milpid.
Milpid fails with the takedown.
Milpid walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Ming has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ming is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Milpid pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ming goes for a takedown attempt but Milpid pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Milpid misses with an uppercut. Ming saw that one coming.
Ming shoots in looking for a takedown but Milpid manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ming's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Milpid shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ming defends it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Milpid on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Ming keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ming throws a big counter combination but Milpid scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Ming lands a head kick!
Ming tries to clinch but Milpid is having none of it.
Milpid looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ming throwing a counter right hand but Milpid manages to avoid it.
Milpid takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ming tries to land a front kick but Milpid steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ming delivers a nice body kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ming looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Milpid looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ming is fending him off so far but Milpid persists. Nope, Ming circles away and we're back to standing.
Milpid misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ming is looking to slow Milpid down with leg kicks.
Milpid shoots in for a takedown but Ming shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ming changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Milpid looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Milpid is looking for a sweep.
Ming looks up at the clock and then as Milpid takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ming smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Ming tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Milpid can't do much from the bottom here.
Ming lands a decent elbow from side control.

Milpid regains half guard, as Ming was trying to land strikes.

Milpid looking for submissions off his back.
Milpid makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Milpid.

Milpid had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ming defends it easily.
Ming throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Milpid works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Milpid managing to control the position.

Milpid is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Milpid looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Milpid throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Ming postures up and lands a big shot to Milpid's brow.

Milpid working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Ming has passed into half guard!
Milpid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ming thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Milpid's head.
Ming throws a strike but Milpid avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Ming postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Milpid is looking for a triangle but Ming pushes his legs off easily.
Ming looking to pass the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cho Ming dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ming lands a right hook to the body.
Ming looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ming lands a jab-cross combination.
Ming shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Milpid pinned against the ropes. Milpid gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ming connects with a solid leg kick.
Ming slaps away a takedown attempt from Milpid, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Milpid gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ming actively working from the bottom here.

Ming is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Milpid is looking to stall here but Ming recovers full guard.
Ming being controlled here, momentarily.

Ming escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Milpid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ming is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ming is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Milpid postures up and lands a big shot to Ming's brow.
Milpid is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Ming had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Milpid defends it easily.

Ming escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Milpid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Milpid connects with a couple of short punches.

Ming is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Milpid is aware though and is defending well.
Milpid pushes down on Ming's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Milpid prevents Ming from standing back up.
Milpid keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Milpid takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ming has hold of Milpid's hands but Milpid slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ming is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Milpid can do to turn this around?

Milpid wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ming keeps working.

Jack Milpid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Milpid shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ming pinned against the ropes. Ming gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Ming counters with a straight right hand.
Milpid lands with a straight right. Ming didn't see that one coming.
Milpid keeps the fight on the outside.

Cho Ming has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Milpid.
Ming tries to close the distance and clinch but Milpid swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ming shoots for a double leg takedown but Milpid sprawls well. He's pushed Ming's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Despite the aggression on Milpid's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Ming fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Milpid avoids it really well and circles away.

Milpid works to advance to full mount. Ming defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Ming sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Ming tries to roll over but Milpid keeps him under control.
Milpid landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Milpid prevents Ming from improving his position.
Ground and pound from Milpid.
Milpid slips a nice elbow through Ming's hands, connecting with Ming's forehead.
Milpid winds up and cracks Ming with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Milpid is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ming is pressing down on Milpid's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Milpid working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ming's head.

Ming has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Milpid can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Milpid passes the guard and advances to mount!
Ming is in a horrible position here. Milpid smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Ming tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Cho Ming has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Milpid fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ming tries to reverse the position but Milpid maintains control.
Jack Milpid has got the better of the ground game so far.
Milpid landing punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Milpid comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Milpid has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
