PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Uno's choice of entrance music: Mama Said Knock You Out. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Chris Uno enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Uno!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter lands a head kick!


It looks like Chris Uno has been cut.
John Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter tries to clinch there but Uno circles away.
Carter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Uno swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carter connects with a solid leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carter closes the distance and clinches.

Carter has Uno pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Carter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Uno tumbling to the mat - Carter dives into Uno's guard.
Carter postures up in Uno's guard and throws a big left but Uno blocks it.
Carter tries to free his leg and advance position but Uno is retaining full guard.
Uno controls Carter momentarily but Carter frees himself.
Carter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Carter tries for a kimura but Uno is defending well.
Carter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Uno tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Carter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Uno tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Carter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Uno has escaped the position, nice work there.
Uno takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Carter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Uno is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Uno is trying to get back to half guard.

Carter looks up at the clock and then as Uno takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Carter smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Carter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Uno has escaped the position, nice work there.

Carter stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Uno misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Uno looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carter is fending him off so far but Uno persists. Nope, Carter circles away and we're back to standing.
Uno looks gassed!
Carter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Uno paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Uno tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carter swivels and escapes.
John Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Uno.
Carter tries to clinch up but Uno circles away and keeps his distance.
Carter connects with a body shot.
Carter feints and then cracks Uno's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Uno down.
Uno is trying desperately to land a takedown but Carter is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Uno.
Carter is looking to clinch.
A punch combination from Carter misses.
Carter fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Uno.
Carter lands an overhand right.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carter scores a takedown into full mount!

Carter looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Carter scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Uno is wriggling around trying to escape.
Carter working the ground and pound effectively.
Carter is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Uno can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Carter has control of Uno's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Uno regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Carter is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Uno gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Uno fails with the takedown.
Carter wants to clinch up but Uno keeps it at a distance.
Carter swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Carter moves in looking to clinch but Uno pushes him off.
Uno looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

John Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Uno.

Uno gets caught flat footed, as Carter shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Carter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Carter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
John Carter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Carter wants to control from the top but Uno keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Uno looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Carter passes into half guard.

Carter is working for a submission of some sort.
Carter is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Carter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Uno has hold of Carter's hands but Carter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Carter wants to take a breather but Uno is having none of it.
Carter wants to pass the guard but Uno is defending well.
Carter uses his free foot to push down on Uno's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Uno.
Carter is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Uno is in real trouble.

Carter throws a series of strikes and Uno wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.
Uno is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Carter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Uno can do to turn this around?

Carter is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Uno can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Carter cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Carter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Uno has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Uno is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Uno walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Carter tries to clinch up but Uno circles away and keeps his distance.
Carter throws a sloppy head kick and Uno moves out of range easily.

Uno avoids the head kick by Carter.
Carter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carter missing with a left hand there. Uno was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Uno fails to land the takedown.
Uno swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Carter.
Carter tries to clinch up but Uno circles away and keeps his distance.

Carter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Carter stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Carter has hold of Uno's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Uno seems comfortable defending it but Carter has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Uno is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Uno is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Carter couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Carter!
