PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Reese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sa Pinto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reese comes to the cage accompanied by Person of Interest OST - Knock Knock . Pinto comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Grande Sá kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Reese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Sa Pinto!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Reese.
Pinto shoots in but no luck this time.
Reese jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pinto shoots in and drives through. Reese sprawls well.
Reese swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Pinto is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Reese digs a good hook to Pinto's body.

Reese gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Reese is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pinto is controlling him.
Reese might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Reese wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pinto manages to pass to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pinto trying to control the action but Reese is working from the bottom.

Pinto stops Reese from getting back to his feet.
Pinto is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Reese is looking to escape.

Pinto is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Reese tries to kick Pinto off but Pinto keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Pinto perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Pinto prevents Reese from standing back up.
Pinto is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Pinto lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Reese is trying to stand up here but Pinto is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pinto controlling the pace.
Reese pushes Pinto off looking to stand but Pinto dives back in and keeps control.

Pinto wants to work for an arm triangle but Reese is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Pinto is trying to work for a kimura but Reese is defending well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pinto prevents Reese from standing back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reese gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pinto to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pinto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pinto with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Pinto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pinto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reese is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pinto looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pinto trying to control but Reese is working from the bottom.

Pinto drops back looking for a leg! Reese is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reese manages to kick Pinto off! Pinto jumps back into Reese's guard.
Reese wants to get back to his feet but Pinto is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Reese throws an overhand right that lands on Pinto's shoulder, as Pinto tries to avoid the shot.
Reese connects with a nice looking jab.
Pinto shoots in for a takedown but Reese shows good takedown defense.
John Reese has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sa Pinto.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pinto looks for a takedown but Reese sprawls well.
Reese was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Reese scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sa Pinto dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pinto avoids the body shot from Reese.
Reese missing with a left hand there. Pinto was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Pinto dives in and scores a takedown into Reese's guard.
Reese is looking to stand up but Pinto isn't so interested in that idea.
Pinto is standing up over Reese. Reese looks to escape but Pinto dives into side control.
Pinto lands a nice forearm strike.

Pinto tries for a kimura but Reese is defending well.
Reese trying to remain calm as Pinto controls from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reese wants to get back to his feet but Pinto drags him back down.
Pinto has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Reese bucks up and tries to throw Pinto off but instead Pinto has got his back!

Reese is trying to stand back up.

Pinto tightening his grip on Reese, looking for the choke.
Reese knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pinto on the ground.
Reese wants to get back to his feet.

Pinto is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Reese defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Pinto is working for a rear naked choke. Reese is not defending it well and Pinto has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Reese refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Reese's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sa Pinto!
