The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berry gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Berry is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Berry keeping moving, preventing Jefferson from controlling successfully.
Jefferson tries to free his leg and advance position but Berry is retaining full guard.

Berry is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jefferson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ground and pound from Jefferson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jefferson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Berry wants to control but Jefferson postures up.
Berry is looking to regain half guard here but Jefferson keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jefferson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Jefferson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Berry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jefferson on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jefferson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Berry sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Jefferson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Berry has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Jefferson is cranking Berry's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Berry! He's tightened the choke and Berry is tapping out!
