PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane Wilkins told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Jay Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shane Wilkins!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilkins displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

A little feinted left hand from Walker on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Shane Wilkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Walker is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wilkins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oh Walker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Walker has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Wilkins looks to land a combination but Walker avoids it well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Wilkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Wilkins feints and as Walker raises his hands in defense, Wilkins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Shane Wilkins is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walker wants to break the clinch but can't.
Wilkins has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Walker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jay Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Wilkins.
Wilkins blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Wilkins is trying to break the clinch but Walker has him pressed against the cage.

Well Wilkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
