Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Floyd Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Phil Brooks enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Floyd Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Howard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Brooks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Howard seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Brooks wants to sweep but no luck.
Brooks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Howard's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Howard throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Howard is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brooks is aware though and is defending well.
Brooks tries to free his leg and advance position but Howard is retaining full guard.
Howard wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Brooks or perhaps it was just good defense by Howard, which made it look bad.
Howard tries to counter with a takedown but Brooks is quick to defend against it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brooks tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Howard defends well and Brooks ends up having to push Howard into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Howard lands a two punch combo.

Howard darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brooks tries to get to full guard but Howard has control of the leg.

Howard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brooks keeps working.
Brooks wants to get back to full guard but Howard has passed into side control.
Brooks is looking for a sweep.

Brooks is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Howard wants to control but Brooks is keeping him busy.
Brooks is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Howard is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Howard prevents Brooks from getting the reversal.
Howard looking to control but Brooks is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Brooks is trying desperately to improve position.

Brooks wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Brooks is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

A lull in the action here.
Brooks tries to roll but Howard sticks to his back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Howard tries to keep control of the position but Brooks is staying busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brooks is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Brooks looks for a takedown but Howard sprawls well.

and Howard counters with a left and a right that stings Brooks.
No luck for Brooks with that takedown attempt.
Floyd Howard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Brooks.

Brooks dives in and grabs Howard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Howard pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.
Howard is looking to counter the offense by Brooks and move into the clinch.
Brooks is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Brooks goes for a double leg but Howard avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Howard continues to drive forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Howard gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Howard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Howard closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brooks's guard.
Howard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Brooks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Howard is one step ahead there.

Howard thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Howard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brooks pushes a forearm under Howard's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Howard is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Phil Brooks!
