PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sans Pression - Numero 1. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Gotti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Palmer!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotti misses with a double jab.
A head kick by Gotti misses

and Palmer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Palmer wants to pass the guard but Gotti is defending well.

Palmer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gotti's coaches at Elite Dojo [21 Coaches / 56 cap] have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Palmer is trying to work for a kimura but Gotti is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palmer is looking to take a break and control but Gotti is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Palmer is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Gotti is defending against the submission attempts here by Palmer.

Palmer wants to pass to mount but Gotti is defending the position.
Gotti is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gotti is trying to maintain the position but Palmer is very close to passing his half guard.

Palmer is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gotti has managed to free his arm - good work.

Palmer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gotti wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jimmy Gotti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gotti misses with a combination

and Palmer counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Palmer passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gotti tries to buck Palmer off but Palmer is having none of it.
Palmer trying to control the action but Gotti is working from the bottom.

Palmer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Palmer tries for a kimura but Gotti is defending well.

Palmer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gotti, who protects the arm well.

Gotti manages to work his way to half guard, despite Palmer's best efforts.

Palmer is working for an americana but Gotti has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Palmer was thinking about the submission.

Palmer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gotti is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gotti has escaped and now he's on top!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Palmer dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gotti tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Palmer tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Gotti lands a big head kick that sends Palmer tumbling to the mat! Gotti takes a step backwards and waves Palmer back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Palmer is rocked!


It looks like George Palmer has been cut.
Gotti misses with a two punch combination.
Palmer tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Palmer is still on wobbly legs! Can Gotti finish him?
Gotti connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Gotti turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Gotti cracks Palmer's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Palmer slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Gotti can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jimmy Gotti!
During a confident post fight interview, Jimmy Gotti thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
George Palmer spoke after the fight, saying 'Great job Jimmy! You beat me with your experience and excellent boxing. I have no excuses.'.
