Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Neil Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gianluca Balotelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gianluca Balotelli!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balotelli avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Balotelli throws a counter combo.
Drake on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Balotelli throws a knee to the head but misses.
Balotelli lands a good knee to the midsection. Drake won't want to take too many of those.

Balotelli swings wildly with an uppercut but Drake uses good head movement to avoid it.

Balotelli throws a solid leg kick but Drake takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Balotelli.

and Drake decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Balotelli's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Balotelli can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Balotelli can't keep his opponent in guard - Drake advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Drake uses his free foot to push down on Balotelli's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Balotelli.
Balotelli felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Drake seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Balotelli is holding on tight.

Drake jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Balotelli manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ground and pound from Drake seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Drake is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Balotelli is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Drake is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Balotelli is trying to escape and Drake transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Balotelli is forced to tap! Nice work there by Drake! Very nice indeed!
