Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Bullzan!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Hemmingworth and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bullzan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Charles, pushing him back against the cage.

Bullzan jumps guard.
Charles preventing the sweep.
Charles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Charles slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Charles lands a couple of digs.
Bullzan is trying to control the position but Charles postures up.
Bullzan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Bullzan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bullzan wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Charles manages to pass to side control.
Charles not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Charles keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Charles has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bullzan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Charles is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Bullzan gets caught flat footed, as Charles shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Charles controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bullzan wants to control but Charles is having none of it.

Charles cracks Bullzan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bullzan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Charles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Charles tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Charles seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bullzan for as long as he can get away with.
Bullzan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
BOOM! Charles connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bullzan tries to reverse the position but Charles maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Charles dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Charles closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bullzan quickly recovers to half guard.
Charles winds up and cracks Bullzan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Bullzan is looking for a sweep. Charles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Charles is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Charles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bullzan trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Charles prevents Bullzan from getting the reversal.

Bullzan bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Charles has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Bullzan wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.
Bullzan trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Charles manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

David Charles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bullzan is trying to get back to full guard.
Charles is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bullzan can do to turn this around?

Charles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
