Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Max Paine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steel Chair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Paine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steel Chair!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chair gets caught flat footed, as Paine shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Paine trying to control the position from guard on top but Chair is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Paine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Paine engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Chair manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Paine manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Chair has gone for a leg lock! Paine slips out almost immediately though and dives into Chair's guard.

Paine wants to control from the top but Chair keeps moving.
Paine not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Paine trying to control but Chair is working from the bottom.
Chair is trying to control the position but Paine postures up.
Paine has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chair is controlling Paine's posture.
Paine is looking to work some ground and pound but Chair has wrist control.
Chair is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chair preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Paine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chair on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paine won't allow Chair to sweep him here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Paine feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Chair has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paine can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Paine postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Chair has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Chair looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chair tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Paine controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chair is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chair wants to take a breather but Paine is having none of it.
Paine tries to roll over but Chair keeps him under control.
Chair trying to pass the guard but Paine defending well.
Chair is keen to just control but Paine is a slippery customer.
Paine is looking for a sweep. Chair is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Chair looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chair is keen to just control but Paine is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Steel Chair will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Paine shoots in and bounces Chair off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Chair is trying to keep Paine in close.
Chair lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chair drops back looking for a leg! Paine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Paine manages to kick Chair off! Chair jumps back into Paine's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chair accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Paine keeping moving, preventing Chair from controlling successfully.
Steel Chair has got the better of the ground game so far.
Paine wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chair wants to control from the top but Paine keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Paine is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Paine drives through with a takedown into Chair's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Paine wants to control from the top but Chair keeps moving.
Paine postures up.

Paine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chair is on top in guard.

Paine throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Paine looking for a sweep. Not yet Paine, not yet.
Chair throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Chair is looking to work some ground and pound but Paine has wrist control.
Paine can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chair controls the pace.

Chair is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Chair drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chair jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Chair wants to control from the top but Paine keeps moving.
Paine wants to sweep here but Chair controlling him for the moment.
Chair trying to control but Paine is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Paine has his foot on Chair's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chair works his way back into a safe position though.
Chair wants to control from the top but Paine keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Steel Chair will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Paine closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Chair manages to get back to half guard.
Paine is controlling the pace.
Paine throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chair is pressing down on Paine's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Paine is posturing up here but Chair has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Paine tries to roll out but it's too tight and Paine has to tap! Slick submission there by Chair!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Steel Chair!
