Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Coltin Scheihing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter Melon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walter Melon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Coltin Scheihing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Walter Melon!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scheihing shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Melon defends it nicely.
Scheihing is looking to clinch.
Melon steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Scheihing. That one must have hurt.
Melon shoots in and drives through. Scheihing sprawls well.
Melon misses with a low kick.
Scheihing changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Melon misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Melon avoids a punch combination nicely.
Scheihing moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromMelon.

Scheihing closes the distance and clinches.

Melon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Melon does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Melon throws a head kick that misses.
Scheihing tries to clinch there but Melon circles away.
Scheihing sets himself, and Melon steps forward looking for the clinch! Scheihing avoids it this time.
Scheihing wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Melon doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Scheihing counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Scheihing tries to clinch there but Melon circles away.
Melon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Scheihing throws a series of strikes that have Melon backpedaling.


It looks like Walter Melon has been cut.

Scheihing closes the distance and clinches.
Melon keeps control of Scheihing as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Scheihing takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Scheihing escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Scheihing thuds a left hand into Melon's body.
Scheihing slaps away a takedown attempt from Melon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Scheihing appears to be looking for a big counter.
Coltin Scheihing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter Melon.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Scheihing shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Scheihing tries to stand but can't do so whilst Melon controls his leg.

Scheihing content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Melon is looking to control Scheihing's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Melon avoid being mounted?

Melon is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

and Melon counters with a nice body kick.
Scheihing attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Melon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Scheihing tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Melon manages to circle out of the way.
Scheihing tries to close the distance and clinch but Melon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Melon is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Scheihing wants to clinch up but Melon keeps it at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Coltin Scheihing seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Scheihing tries to score a body lock takedown but Melon shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Melon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Scheihing to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Scheihing is controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A solid leg kick lands there for Scheihing.
Scheihing wants to clinch up but Melon keeps it at a distance.
Scheihing tries to score a power double leg takedown but Melon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scheihing somewhat.

Melon tries to bum rush Scheihing with a series of wild strikes but Scheihing uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Scheihing is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Melon.
Scheihing throws a right and a left that both miss.
Melon changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Scheihing fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Melon avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Melon won't allow Scheihing to pass to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Scheihing tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Melon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Melon counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Scheihing is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Melon to keep the fight standing.

and Melon counters with a series of strikes. Scheihing will be more careful next time no doubt.

Scheihing shoots for a double leg takedown but Melon sprawls well. He's pushed Scheihing's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Scheihing is looking to clinch but Melon is avoiding it.
Melon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Scheihing counters with a shoot takedown. Melon fights it but they end up in guard.
Melon controls Scheihing momentarily but Scheihing frees himself.

Scheihing stands up and waves to Melon to follow him.
Walter Melon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Coltin Scheihing.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Scheihing, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
