The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jo moves in looking to clinch but Aires pushes him off.
Jo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aires utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Aires is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aires is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Jo frees his head nicely. Oh but Aires has switched to an armbar! Jo is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
