Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy GBaby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sammy GBaby!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
GBaby fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bates checks it well.
Bates half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Bates throws a head kick that misses.

Bates manages to get an easy takedown there - catching GBaby on his heels. He'll look to pass GBaby's guard now, I'm sure.
Bates working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Bates throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as GBaby works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bates gets to his feet. GBaby looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
GBaby swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bates ducks under a wild hook from GBaby.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
GBaby lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
GBaby misses with a few strikes there.

Bates really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bates tries to land knees in the clinch but GBaby avoids the damage to the body.
GBaby blocks a body shot from Bates.
GBaby misses with a hook to the ribs.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
GBaby wants to break free but Bates has control.
Bates is pushing GBaby up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
GBaby looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A head punch on the inside from Bates fails to land.

Bates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bates breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
GBaby misses with a lunging right hand

and Bates counters with a shoot takedown. GBaby fights it but they end up in guard.

GBaby wants to improve his position but Bates is controlling well.

Bates is trying to work for a kimura but GBaby is defending well.

Bates working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Bates is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and GBaby defends it well.

Bates seems to be looking for submissions.

Bates wants to work for an arm triangle but GBaby is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bates is thwarting GBaby's attempts to control the position.

Bates slips a nice elbow through GBaby's hands, connecting with GBaby's forehead.

Bates is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but GBaby still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, GBaby has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Bates counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bates.
Come on Bates - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
GBaby misses with a hook from the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Bates breaks the clinch.

and Bates moves into the clinch.

Bates decides to pull guard.
GBaby looking to sit in guard and control but Bates gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dave Bates overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bates stands up over GBaby, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
GBaby utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
GBaby really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
GBaby wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Bates is now in half guard.

Bates is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bates scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Bates lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Bates maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! GBaby could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bates has cracked it and GBaby is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bates!
