Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Point Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Point Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens misses with a kick to the body.
Fighter's corner calls for a 1-2. Fighter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Stevens throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Fighter to counter with a crisp jab.
Stevens throws a leg kick that is checked
and Fighter counters with a one-two to the body.
Stevens throws a half hearted mid kick.
A counter left hand to the body from Fighter misses its target.
A head kick misses from Stevens.
Stevens just misses with a punch to the body.
Fighter half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Stevens cracks a nice hook into Fighter's ribs.
A big right from Stevens misses.
Stevens works the jab nicely.
Fighter takes a kick to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stevens closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fighter can't get the takedown.
Fighter blocks a body shot from Stevens.
Fighter swings away with an uppercut that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Fighter blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Stevens lands with a short shot to the head.
Stevens lands with a short shot to the head.
A bit of stalling here from Fighter.
Fighter blocks a body shot from Stevens.
Stevens tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Stevens breaks the clinch.

Stevens gets a clinch.
Stevens misses with a punch on the inside.
Fighter lands an uppercut.

Stevens pulls Fighter into guard.
Fighter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stevens swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Stevens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fighter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fighter works over Stevens with some ground and pound from guard.

Stevens has his foot on Fighter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fighter works his way back into a safe position though.

Stevens had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fighter defends it easily.
Fighter stays in close to Stevens's body and controls the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stevens is looking for a triangle here but Fighter uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
An elbow from Fighter crashes against the mat.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stevens regains half guard.
Stevens is looking for a sweep. Fighter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fighter is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fighter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stevens with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fighter is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Fighter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Stevens is staying active underneath Fighter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Fighter is really struggling to control Stevens but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Stevens is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stevens. Fighter does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stevens throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Stevens throws a lazy right hand but Fighter sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Fighter moves out of range as Stevens throws a body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Stevens dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Stevens is looking to clinch but Fighter is avoiding it.
Fighter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fighter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stevens manages to avoid it.
Stevens lands a nice looking kick to the body. Fighter takes a step back to recover.
Stevens misses with a takedown attempt
and Fighter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Stevens looks to clinch
and Fighter counters with a nice uppercut.
Fighter cracks a nice hook into Stevens's ribs.
Stevens rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fighter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fighter was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Fighter just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter checks a leg kick.
It looked like Fighter was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Stevens.
Stevens misses with a lunging right hand
and Fighter counters with a three punch combo that has Stevens backing up. Stevens nods at Fighter to acknowledge the strikes.
Fighter moves away from the strike by Stevens.
Stevens jabs at Fighter's body.

Stevens moves to clinch but Fighter breaks away
letting Fighter counter with a right hand.
Dean Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stevens pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Stevens scores with a body shot.
Stevens darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter gets double underhooks and turns Stevens into the cage.

Stevens closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fighter doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Stevens pulls guard effortlessly.

Stevens working for a triangle but Fighter defends it easily.

Stevens looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Stevens being controlled here, momentarily.
Stevens is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stevens is looking for a triangle but Fighter pushes his legs off easily.
Fighter throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter trying to control but Stevens is working from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Stevens wants to sweep but no luck.
Stevens manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fighter manages to get himself to full guard.

Stevens seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Stevens looking to sit in guard and control but Fighter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fighter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stevens looking for a sweep. Not yet Stevens, not yet.
Dean Stevens has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fighter works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Fighter is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Fighter is trying to control. Stevens wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fighter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Point Fighter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Fighter moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Fighter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stevens paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stevens misses with an uppercut. Fighter saw that one coming.

Fighter swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Fighter blocks a head kick by Stevens.

and Fighter counters with a straight right hand.
Stevens connects with the punch.
Stevens tries a head kick but it misses.
A little feinted left hand from Fighter on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Fighter lands with a nice body punch.

Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fighter swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fighter wants to break free but Stevens has control.
Fighter tries to throw a body punch but Stevens avoids it by throwing Fighter back against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Stevens.
Stevens can't find room to land a body shot as Fighter controls the action.
Fighter wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stevens has him pressed against the cage.
Stevens tries a body shot but Fighter blocks it.
Fighter scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A right handed body shot lands from Fighter.
Stevens prevents a body shot from Fighter.
Fighter tries to work over Stevens's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Fighter works on Stevens's body with a couple of short punches.

Fighter lands with a light punch inside.
Fighter wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fighter looking to stall.
Fighter is trying to stall.

Fighter manages to pull guard.

Stevens working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fighter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stevens lands a couple of elbows.
Fighter wants to sweep but no luck.
Fighter has Stevens pulled in close to control his posture.
Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but Fighter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stevens throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Stevens wants to control from the top but Fighter keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Stevens misses with a body kick.

Stevens fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fighter, pushing him back against the cage.
Fighter working hard to break the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Fighter misses with the head strike.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Fighter as Stevens tries to tie him up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stevens swings wildly with an uppercut but Fighter uses good head movement to avoid it.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Fighter.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Point Fighter.
I think Fighter has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
