The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Townsend misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Townsend takes one to the side of the head.
Adriano tries to clinch there but Townsend circles away.

Adriano drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Townsend is squirming around, avoiding Adriano's attempts to control the action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Townsend accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Townsend could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Adriano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Townsend doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Townsend manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Townsend would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Townsend wants to control from the top but Adriano keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Adriano feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Adriano throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Townsend was covering up waiting for the punch and Adriano finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leroy Townsend.
I think Adriano has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
