Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shane Doby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirk Boon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doby comes into the arena with International Players Anthem blaring out of the sound system. Boon has chosen American Ninja 2 OST - Truckin' as his entrance music. Kirk Boon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Doby on his heels. He'll look to pass Doby's guard now, I'm sure.
Boon forces his way into half guard.
Boon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Doby knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Doby is doing well to control the position and prevent Boon from advancing to side control.
Boon passes the guard and advances to mount!

Boon working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Doby wants to control but Boon is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doby is wriggling around trying to escape.

Boon working for a submission but Doby is keeping him at bay.

Boon wants to finish this one by submission but Doby is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Boon.
Doby is trying desperately to improve position.

Boon has hold of Doby's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Doby manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

My spies in Montreal Fighter's Gym (4.5* Sparring) inform me that Boon has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Boon looking to isolate an arm here. Doby doesn't see it coming and as Boon extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Boon!
